Hair goes glossy with ghd's gold styler

Inspired by high-octane, '90s glamour and the supermodels of this decade, straight hair was big on the SS18 runways. With this in mind, ghd are introducing the ghd gold® styler featuring dual-zone technology for premium performance.

What's more, they've issued a limited edition run of 10 ghd 18k gold stylers, worth more than £1,000 each, and you could be in with a chance of winning one! Simply purchase a ghd gold® styler and look out for the golden ticket inside the box - follow the instructions on the ticket to see if you're a lucky winner.

ghd global ambassador Adam Reed, who used the new ghd gold® styler at the Julien Macdonald SS18 show, explains how the styler will help you create this year's biggest hair looks:

“We are bringing straight hair back for 2018; but in a very modern way. The secret to success here lies in the process – namely starting the look with a brilliant blow dry via the ghd air hairdryer, afterwards we are running the ghd gold styler over hair to eliminate any last frizz or kinks. This achieves brilliant condition, gloss, shine and movement – the look is literally, Straight Up Luxe.

“We're treating the hair very carefully, as you would a beautiful and delicate fabric. The ghd gold® styler glides through the hair, delivering a constant safer-for-hair heat of 185 degrees to ensure hair is perfectly styled but is not damaged.”

The ghd gold® styler features an improved heat up time of only 25 seconds, reaching 185 degrees - the optimum temperature for styling.

The ghd gold® styler features an improved heat up time of only 25 seconds, reaching 185 degrees, which, say ghd, is the optimum temperature for styling; any hotter damages the hair, any cooler and the result is compromised. Its modernised design delivers smooth, snag-free styling, and an automatic sleep mode means the device switches itself off after 30 minutes.

What's more, the styler has a professional length cable of 2.7m so you can always reach the mirror, and a protective plate guard for safe storage. An as a bonus it has universal voltage, so you can use your styler wherever in the world you may be.

Whilst the ghd gold styler is fabulous for creating super straight hair, stylist to the stars Yusef Williams also used the ghd gold® to style Rihanna's locks at this year's Grammy Awards, citing his inspiration as giving Rhianna “super big, dreamy disco diva hair,” to match “the vibe of the performance.”

Yusef, who posted the image below on his Instagram account (@yusefhairnyc), explains how he created Rihanna's look:

“To start, I prepped Rihanna's hair with mousse and then blew it out using the ghd air™ hairdryer to create extra volume in the root. Once dried, I used the new ghd gold® professional styler to smooth out the root and get rid of flyaways.

“Then, using the ghd CURVE® classic wave wand, I curled sections of the hair to create fluffy, gorgeous curls. Once all the hair was curled, I used the new ghd gold® professional styler to soften any tight curls and create bouncy waves. I then softly brushed out the curls for added volume using ghd oval dressing brush. Lastly, I spritzed a finishing spray to hold the style and added in an orchid to complete the look for the Wild Thoughts performance.”

The ghd gold® professional styler is available from 19 February via salons, department stores, and
